We will evaluate your pet's dental health during their exam and we may recommend a dental cleaning under anesthesia. When your pet has their teeth cleaned under anesthesia we can scale the tartar off the teeth, probe the gum line for pockets, check for fractured or loose teeth, oral masses and other abnormalities. We also have dental x-rays to evaluate for disease below the gum line like tooth root abscesses, bone loss, fractured tooth roots, further evaluate missing teeth below the gum line. If you are interested in having your pet's teeth evaluated please call us today to schedule an exam!
Dental cleanings for cats start at $200 and for dogs $250. Blood work is an additional cost. For dogs, a heartworm test within 12 months is required. Rabies vaccines also need to be up to date for cats and dogs.
During your pet's dental cleaning we will monitor anesthesia. Every 5 minutes the temperature, blood pressure, oxygenation is recorded and a continuous ECG will monitor for an abnormal heart beat or rhythm. Your pet will receive an intravenous catheter (IV) and fluids during the cleaning. Dr. Miller will call you during the dental if any dental abnormalities are noted and discuss further care.
